What's an Optical Boutique Anyways?

Dr. Des Rosiers’ vision for her office here in Westlake was a combination of 2 things- her history of growing up coming to this very building, and her passion for quality, individualized eyecare.

The building reimagined

This historic 1863 house contains a lot of memories and Dr. D wanted to preserve its history while giving it a fresh facelift. She preserved original pieces like the woodwork surrounding the fireplace and the old brick chimney (her personal favorite). Because the footprint is rather small, it leaned itself towards a cozy, boutique vibe. Dr. D loves a good boutique- a beautiful space filled with curated one-of-a-kind finds; items that are personal, unique, and not seen on every street corner. This gave her the idea to create an optical boutique.

So how does a boutique translate to eyecare?

Eyecare is a unique section of healthcare because it can be both very medical while also being retail. And it is actually quite important to have both. We need high quality medical eyecare, especially when virtual eye exams are on the rise (that’s a topic for another day, but needless to say I’m not sure how anyone can evaluate your eyes well without physically taking a look inside), but we also very much need glasses and contacts to see!

That’s where an optical boutique comes in. We can provide the high quality eyecare with personalized and individualized care. You won’t feel like a number but will have ample time to review all of your concerns about your particular eye health with Dr. D as well as treatment plans and goals. But you also get the benefits of a boutique: a space that is warm and welcoming, not sterile like a typical medical office, and an optical where you will find one-of-a-kind frames like Orgreen and Etnia Barcelona as well as high-end fashion brands like Burberry. And throughout the whole process, from start to finish, you’ll have hands-on care and suggestions from people who care about your eyes, your glasses, and you as a person. That’s how we bring boutique into our eyecare and optical.
